   The CHSAA scholarship program was established to award monetary scholarships to CHS graduates.  
   We invite you to contribute to this important scholarship fund and to encourage your friends and former classmates to do the same.

Scholarship Recipients

     The Centralia High School Alumni Association recently awarded $750 scholarships to 2013 CHS graduates.  This is the sixth year the CHSAA has awarded scholarships, totaling 27 scholarships since 2008.  

     Students receiving scholarships this year include from left, 
FRONT ROW:  Emilee Johnson, attending Kaskaskia College and Callie Jackson, attending Southern Illinois University-Carbondale.  BACK ROW:  Reid Shipley, CHS Principal, Andrew Johnston, attending Southeast Missouri State University and Jacob Featherling, attending Kaskaskia College and recipient of the Donald L. Woodard Memorial Scholarship, a former Superintendent of Centralia High School.


Jordan Tyson, 2013 Scholarship Winner

 
Jordan Tyson, a 2013 graduate of Centralia High School, is shown above receiving Van/Vicky Bell Leadership Award at the academic pep assembly in May from Principal Reid Shipley. The Van/Vicky Bell Leadership Award is a $2,000 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior that has demonstrated leadership in sports and school while attending Centralia High School. Van Bell, a 1964 graduate of CHS, participated in baseball, football and basketball as well as many other activities while a CHS student and has established this award to honor a senior that has excelled in leadership during his/her high school career. Tyson will be attending Kaskaskia College in the fall.

   Dustin DeKalb and Trevor Gyorkos, 2013 graduates of Centralia High School, were each awarded $2,500 scholarships from the “69” CHS Wild Bunch Football Team at the CYFL golf tournament fundraiser in May. This is the second year the Wild Bunch Football Team has awarded scholarships to CHS athletes. Dustin DeKalb was All-Conference Honorable Mention, started both ways and was selected to the Southern Illinois All-Star Team. He will be attending Murray State in Murray, KY in the fall. Trevor Gyorkos was a 1st Team All Conference Player, started both ways, was All South 1st Team and was selected to the Southern Illinois All-Star Team. He will be attending Kaskaskia College in the fall.
