return home

Meeting opened at 7:05 PM.

Meeting began with a treasures report as Reid Shipley announced that there was currently $826.75 in the account. One bill had been paid to Crain, Miller, and Wernsman for the amount of $118.25 for submitting the CHSAA’s “Not for Profit” paperwork.

Sarah Peters, a CHS senior, was introduced as the CHSAA intern that will update the webpage, enter membership information, and perform any other duties as needed by the association.

Vicki Rogers spoke briefly and gave an overview of the “Friends for a Greater Centralia” planning committee and weekend events.

Reid Shipley and Vince Holtkamp made a proposal of a new dues structure for 2008. The recommendation was to have the annual membership dues set at $15 per person and $20 per couple. Lifetime membership dues were recommended for $150 per person or $200 per couple. The same structure would apply to non-alumni as well. In the future the recommendation was to create a silver, gold, and platinum club. The new membership drive will begin at the end of October and run through 2008.

Marrietta Broughton presented criteria for awarding scholarships. Part of the criteria would include financial need by the student. She also presented a form to be used by students to apply for the alumni scholarship. The amount of the scholarship is yet to be determined.

Brad Coffey stated that the paperwork for the “Not for Profit” status has been filed and the paperwork for our “Tax Deductible” status is being completed.

The need to advertise has been suggested. After our October meeting and the new due structure, landscaping plan, and scholarship criteria are approved we will have a major membership campaign with advertising and news articles.

Reid presented information collected and recommended by Doug Skort for the “Distinguished Alumni Award”. He also suggested the creation of a second award to be given to anyone that has supported or had a positive impacted on CHS but is not an alumnus of CHS.

Brad Coffey presented information on landscaping for the front of the school. The discussion was tabled for the next meeting when he will bring price quotes and more details of the plan.

Brad Coffey is going to have t-shirts printed for the first home basketball game with CHS Alumni Association and the web page on the back. There will be an Orphan logo on the front. The first 200 students in the Orphanage will receive a free t-shirt. Brad will gather donations to pay for the shirts.

From this point forward meeting dates, news, notes from meetings, alumni information, meeting agendas, etc. will be posted on the web page. www.chsalumniassociation.org Other correspondence will also be done through email.

The next meeting date will be October 16.
