September 16, 2008 General Meeting

Reid Shipley called the meeting to order.

The secretary notes were reviewed. A motion to accept the minutes as presented was made by Rod and seconded by Mary Ann.

Reid updated the board on the status of those nominated for Distinguished Alumni. Roland Burris, Paul Carpenter and Mrs. Dike Eddleman and Steve Francois have accepted. James Brady and William Norwood have not responded.

The history of the Distinguished Alumni Award was briefly discussed. The original award was started by the CHS school board and only one was awarded. CHSA resurrected the award. It was discussed to get a matching plaque for the previous winner.

A school assembly with the public invited will be held on October 24 at 1:45 pm. Each honoree will make brief remarks. A banquet with Social Hour will be at 5:30 pm/6:30 pm dinner/7:30 pm short ceremony. Sherry Neff was not able to cater. KC Culinary Arts was discussed. The dinner will be held at the Centralia Historical Museum.

Rod Snow made a motion to have KC Culinary Arts cater the event. A budget of $15 for appetizers, salad, dinner and desert. Tickets will sold for $20 and CHSA will absorb the costs of the guests, decorations and for the room. Wine will be served if it is donated. Motion was seconded by Scmitty and motion carried.

Bert Griffin discussed our website. It was recommended that we explore accepting payment for membership online. The CHSA website www.chsalumniassociation.org is averaging over 18,000 hits a month. Minutes will be posted on the website and Bert has asked for assistance in getting new information and news to update the site.

Next meeting date is October 14.
